Fat Head (movie about diet)

This is off topic, but I just watched a great movie on diet called Fat Head.  Eating a good diet is important for having energy to get things done.  And a good diet is pretty much the opposite of what mainstream culture considers a good diet.  It seems mainstream culture is wrong about everything, even what to eat.  Luckily, I have never been part of mainstream culture, and I've eaten bacon, eggs, and steak all my life.

I'll probably check that out at some point as I am quite into eating well, though I came to the conclusion that all these ''nutritionists'' don't have a damn clue what they're talking about ages ago.

Out of interest though, are you saying that eggs, bacon and steak are good for you? It wouldnt surprise me, seems we in the west (and you in america in particular) have more people telling us what we should eat than ever before but more and more health problems. It doesn't seem anybody ever just stops and says ''hold on, didn't we get by just fine before we had legions of overpaid know-nothings telling us exactly what to eat? Isn't is fairly obvious that humans naturally know what is good and what isnt, I mean, we'd be a pretty sucky species otherwise right?''.

Yes, eggs, bacon and steak are good for you.  This movie is both informative and entertaining, so watch it.

Very good film. I was unwittingly raised on a leaf eating diet. Fat was considered enemy number one in my mother's house hold. As a result I developed picky eating habits. Particularly the habit of under eating or finding no enjoyment in eating as a result of being raised on bland salads or meals barren of salt, butter and sugar. I've really been missing out. I went to McDonalds last night and pigged out. That stuff tastes good. It gave me an instant energy boost. I've been starving myself these last 15 years and I didn't even know it.

Diet is extremely important, I understand this now. I've been neglecting my health and I should curb this habit immediately. Starting today, I'll start seeking out better food. The criteria will be highly fatty, salty and meaty foods. I'll make an effort to learn to cook or allocate a high portion of budget to eating out. Without a proper diet you can't think, you're mood sucks and you lack energy.

In retrospect this film puts a lot of things into perspective. My father enjoys eating lots of fatty meats. His stomach is priority number one. My mother on the other hand has dabbled in nearly every fad leaf eating diet around. She's always trying to lose weight without success and has extreme mood swings. She's not a stable person. I can't help but think this comes as a result of depriving herself of good tasting animal fats. Similarly when I lived with her I always found myself lacking energy and feeling depressed. I can now see a direct link between my mood and her diet. Both my brother and I suffered under her bogus diet trends and as a result grew up being very skinny weaklings with no testosterone.

Allocating a higher budget towards food seems like a right move. Food is a foundational building block of our biology. Everything else is an extra after food. With proper food you can still be a very happy person. I think this is why many poor people in the third world seem happier than well to do Americans whom starve themselves on backwards leaf eating diets.
