Sicilians have bullied and harassed me all my life

I chose a smaller town because I didn't want to live in a bigger city, except maybe Siracusa or Catania. I thought Palermo was a hot, stinking zoo. I couldn't afford a decent apartment in either place. So after traveling around I ended up buying a small townhouse for little money near the center of the island. Wish now I had somehow found a way to settle near Catania since it's actually cosmopolitan and the people there seem far more civilized than most other parts of Sicily. I think that's because they're more Greek there than Arab or African. I moved here because on a vacation here I fell in love with the beautiful scenery and the history. Funny, but my mother (1/2 Sicilian, 1/2 Neapolitan) warned me about Sicily. She said, "You won't like it there. The people are backwards and ignorant. They will think you're going there to steal their property or money. They will not accept you." I laughed at her when she said that but now I realize she was totally correct. These weirdos HATE foreigners. And it's funny that because I came from the UK they all thought I was rich! That's a whole different story, the phony wankers knocking on my door to bring me a crate of tomatoes or some broccoli (that they'd end up throwing in the bin anyway), then acting like they could enter my house at will because they did me a big favor. Disgusting. Then, when I laid the law down telling my stalkers not to just show up unannounced and knock on my door at all hours of the day and night, most of them got irate and then the dirty looks really ramped up. I had at least 1/2 dozen of these inbreds ask me to get jobs in the UK for them or their idiot sons or cousins. Nothing for nothing here. Nothing given simply out of the goodness of one's heart or in the name of friendship. Sickening. The funniest of these incidents was when one of them showed up at my door with his clearly inbred and fucked up son asking me if I knew anyone in the UK who would give him a job. Like I'm a fucking employment agency for retarded Sicilians. I laughed in that guys face - just couldn't help it. He wasn't amused. But I was! Here's something else that's really nuts about Sicily: After I broke up with a Norwegian girl I met here, whose parents had a vacation home (she despised Sicilians and the way they lecherously stared at her and gave her filthy looks -  and I wouldn't move to Norway with her) I started playing with Sicilian women. Thinking nothing of it, I invited several over for dinner after a few dates that seemed to go ok. One of them said she would come over if she could bring her brother with her. I thought, "What the hell is this?" Another did the same thing, but with her male cousin. The one I actually ended up in the sack with would sneak over late at night and would leave right after we partied. Then I found out why. It's because it's automatically assumed that if a woman enters your house without a man (even for five minutes) that automatically means that you fucked her, and then people in town will talk and shame her. Insane! Doesn't matter if the woman is 19 or 90. What ignorant, spiteful fuckwads these people are! On the one I was banging: Eventually, she broke the ice to her family that she was seeing me. Oh my God! They would not stop ringing my doorbell, barging in as if they owned the place. Especially her mom, a screeching, intrusive, loud ignorant cunt. She just wouldn't leave even when it was clear that me and the woman wanted some private time. I tried to talk to the woman about this problem. I was shocked when she basically said, "Family is EVERYTHING to me!" and refused to tell her relatives to back off. So I ended it, right then and there. More dirty looks! You can't win here. . . you cannot have a normal, private life. These creeps do not understand the concepts of privacy and space. Less than three weeks to go before I leave this shit hole forever! By the way, you are totally correct - these are the most corrupt people I have ever known. Corrupt to the bone, from top to bottom, which explains why Sicily is so broken down and corrupted. I feel bad for the few decent Sicilians I befriended here. They are desperately looking to get out of here, but just can't.

Did you ever move out of Sicily?

I am an American and growing up one of my best friends was Sicilian. Over the years I have become increasingly aware of how dishonest him and his family are.

I have so many stories of how scummy their family is. They are easily the most greedy and short sighted people I've ever met. Right now they have a family business where they have clothing donation boxes that they drop on the side of the road without approval from the city/county. They make sure there is no way to trace it back to them, and when the boxes are filled up they sell the clothes for profit. I think they have it set up as a charity for tax purposes and they don't pay any taxes.

The concept of earning things does not apply to them. They are ALWAYS looking to cut corners. Even when the right way is equal or less work, they will still look to take the wrong route. I would say the mom and the daughter are nice people. The daughter especially is really cool and turned out great. But the dad, and his two sons, are scumbags. And the mom has stuck with the dad too long for me to really respect her. They won't even let her have a social media account. The dad controls her.

I grew up in a rich area and on sleepovers parents would often take us out to dinner.  My parents would give me spending money and I would always offer it to the parents of the child who's home I slept at, but they would always refuse - every time. Well one time my friends dad takes us somewhere and it was $5 for my meal. I had a $10 my parents gave me and offered it to him expecting him to deny it like the other parents, and he took the whole thing! Snatched it out of my hand and didn't give me any change. The dad is a cheap piece of shit and I have dozens of stories just like that.

I have literally had all of them steal from me. It was marijuana, but still. Theft is theft. The youngest son stole an ipod from my desk when I had him over my house, before I knew he was a little thief. I found it in his room a few weeks later. One time I was showing my weed to his dad because it was purple and really nice, his dad handed me back the bag. Later in the day I walked into a room in their house and his dad was there looking at my bud. He looked up at me and acted super awkward because he knew he had been caught stealing. I didn't know what to say. My close friend was the older son, and I witnessed him steal from stores quite a lot growing up but as kids I didn't think much of it. It wasn't until we were teenagers and he started selling drugs that I saw how dumb and scummy he was. One of his friends did xanax frequently and was in the hospital and had serious health issues. I don't remember all the details but I remember that the doctors said he could not do xanax anymore. My friend sold him a bottle of bars right when he got out the hospital, and I remember being like why the fuck would you do that? The kid died a few days later.

So fast forward to college and my friend is now becoming really scummy and we are growing apart. One of my other friends decides to live with him in college - they were pretty close friends also. So the sicilian friend gets a bunch of plates and cups donated for free, but he told my friend it was $30 and asked him if he would split it and give him $15. My friend said that a few days later the sicilians girlfriend came by and said to him "wasn't it nice of my friend to donate those plates and cups?" So he knew then and there that he tried to scheme him for $15. And this is what he does to close friends. He looks to scheme them left and right. He owed me $200 and paid me $40 of it. Next time he came to see me he said - "gave you 60, here is the remaining $140". I have dozens of stories just like this. In fact, he recently came over my home and he stole some bud from me. That is why I'm here, because I'm never going to associate with him again. It's hard because I had considered him like a brother, but as a kid you don't have a good sense of who is dishonest. The only people who remain in touch with them are those with no self respect.

I do tend to think it is their sicilian roots that are a big reason for their greedy and dominating behavior. It almost does seem like a mafia mentality. They are extremely inconsiderate of other peoples time and will keep you waiting while they shoot the shit about nothing. It seems they try to find petty ways to dominate people and put themselves up on a pedestal. For instance, when I smoke with my sicilian friend, if he sparks the blunt he will often times hit it like 8 times until it is half way done unless you bitch at him. And when I roll a blunt, he will roll one too just so he gets to spark a blunt. So I asked him, how come when I roll the blunt, you need to roll one also? I think it's his little way of feeling like the king in his own petty little blunt smoking world. I told him I felt like he hits the blunt so much because it's his way of dominating people and getting priority. This is the way sicilians treat people. A very selfish, me first attitude. The type of people who will cut a line and make the people who follow the rules and respect others wait longer.

My friend lives in his own delusional world, living off his wife who works full time and he works 2 days a week for his dad collecting clothes in a truck. They are all dumb as fuck but they think they are smart. I will say they are open minded thinkers, but it's usually in a way that reaffirms their corruption. They think breaking the rules is always the thing to do. The two kids are now 32 and 30 and they have nothing going on. The dad co-signed on a mortgage for one who doesn't work, and the other works with his dad. They are suckling at the teet of their dad who is a sheister. Eventually I think it's all gonna come crashing down, and honestly I can't help but want to see it because I just see them throw so much dirt under the rug and constantly lie to themselves. They are some of the most delusional people I've ever met.

On the other hand they do have a friendly side and don't seem to be as jealous/bitter as most people I know. You won't really hear them talking shit about other people. It's like their brain is wired completely differently. They are very slow paced. But even though they are friendly and won't disrepsect you with words, they disrespect you with their actions.

I found your post just trying to find if other ppl have had these interactions with Sicilians. I find my friends behavior to be pretty unusual. I tend to think it is their culture because Sicily is a small island that puts a ton of emphasis on tradition. Which means the Sicilians living in Siciliy in 1800 may not be so different from the Sicilians in America today.

      I found your post by Googling "Sicilians are disgusting" after seeing ugly pictures of Sicily while looking at pics of Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore near Milan, which really is a beautiful island. I'm reading a book about Napoleon and he took Josephine there. Apparently Sicily also has an Isola Bella that's just a rock with weeds on it. Anyway, I really liked your rant and found it quite informative and amusing and honest. I didn't know Sicilians were inbred or behaved like trailer trash. Not that everyone who lives in a trailer is bad. But if you have ever lived in a trailer park, you know that there are always those certain individuals who belong there in the trailer park and rightly so. Nosy, loud, annoying, pesky, rude, petty, criminalistic, tribal with countless relatives who will hound you like hyenas if just one of them doesn't like you. Yeah, that kind of evil vermin undeserving of life.
     I have disliked so-called Sicilians for a while now. Ever since I dated a Sicilian girl 8 years ago from New Jersey who moved to Florida with her mother and sister. All three of them were those colorful adjectives used above to describe trailer trash. Especially the mother. A few more words to describe her would be: sanctimonious, bitter, two-faced, evil, arrogant, insulting (though inferior, with nothing to be arrogant or insulting about). She once bragged that she made $50 spaghetti soo-wahce (sauce). Did it have cocaine in it?
     Oh my God, their accents were disgusting. Worst accents: New Juy-sey, Russian, New Yew-ahk, Georjuh, Jewish, Yankee, Mexican. Remember that episode of South Park with the vile Jersey Shore subhuman filth? They sounded like that, only worse, because they enunciated everything so slowly with their worst of all accents on Earth. And they never stopped talking. Yet they never said anything worth hearing. I don't know whether it was because they were females, but they would drone on about nothing for hours. Telling a story about their day that never ended. So each day was its own unique version of hell.
     Let me give you a taste of hell... So today I had to go to the sto-wah. So I get in my cah and turn the key. An' guess what happen'd then. It wouldn't staht. So I troy'd again and this time it stah-ted. So I'm driving to the sto-wah and this guy cuts me ow-ahf and I catch the red loyght. So I'm fixing my makeup at the gosh dahn loyght and guess what I see in the rearview mi-rrah. An old me-an picking his nose in the cah behind me. So I holler out the windo-wah, 'I see you old me-an'. So I'm still driving to the sto-wah. Will I evah get theh? Maybe in a couple ow-ahs, but for now I'm just content on towahking foah-evah about HELL!!!!!!!! Christ! I'd rather be crucified beside you! End my suffering Savior whose existence I doubt.
     I'd like it if you would actually describe an encounter or dialogue you've had with the hairy, sweaty, apelike, bestial inbreeders. If it's no trouble remembering.

I know what it's like living in a Twilight Zone. I grew up in a sick town filled with backwards uneducated hicks who thought I was the weird one. Just be glad you're not one of them. I would remind you of how strong you must be. If you grew up in the lap of luxury you might be a spoiled, uneducated, brainwashed sheep like everyone else. I'm happy to know you exist.
     Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I went to Italy when I was 14 (1998); b.1983, 37 now. Though extremely poor growing up, I won a geography contest in 8th grade and went to Orvieto, Florence, Rome, Pisa and Assisi with 150 kids from around the US sponsored by Parade Magazine. Everyone [Italians] was great except the Senegalese, Flo-di-dah, my mother born in Flo-di-dah!, peddling their broken watches and worthless string bracelets, intimidating money out of innocent American children. I haggled with them and got 3 for $5 instead of $5 each (donated funds). 2 of my friends were afraid of them and came to me for help. That was at The Spanish Steps. They did scheister $25 (again, donated) out of me for a nice looking watch in Florence, but the small dials didn't work. Oh well, I learned my lesson.
      We also went to a middle school in Rome. All the girls liked me. Unlike in real life. I was the poor kid in real life. No girls liked me. All the boys wanted to be my friend. Unlike in real life. It's like that now. Men always want to be my friend. Blacks, Mexicans, Whites, but I don't want any friends. Definition of Irony!!! 2 girls at the Duomo in Pisa said I was, "very beautiful". Too bad I was so shy and had absolutely no self-esteem. Unlike now, I'm overflowing with confidence bordering on arrogance. Though I try to be humble and nice and I really am. Oh well, such is life. Italy was beautiful, especially Firenze. I loved Florence so much. So, so beautiful! Rome was just so-so. Meh.
     But I don't like Sicilian-Americans. All due to one family. We should all remember, we're not representing just ourselves, but our people as well. Take care brother. I hope you've found happiness.
